Surprise!
Just to clarify the main thing I am often asked by the children I teach: No I do not live at school/the swimming pools (Although it certainly feels like it sometimes!)!
University/Teaching
I’m 21 and in my final year of Primary Teaching at the Australian Catholic University in Strathfield. I am currently teaching casually at a number of schools around my local area. I simply adore teaching, I love being in the classroom, I enjoy making children laugh, I watch with apprehension as they may struggle with a difficult task but am always prepared to offer help or an enormous smile when they get have achieved their goals.
Making a Splash
Growing up around the corner from the local pools made my brother, sister and I avid swimmers. For the last four years I have worked at both Marrickville and Ashfield pools as a swimming instructor for babies right through to adults, teaching both water safety and stroke correction. This has taught me how to cater for different ages, ability levels and learning styles – (I can not teach my three year olds the way I would my sevens!). I particularly enjoy the school swimming programs as I can see the impressive progression the children gained over the two weeks.
News from the Pews
I was fortunate enough to attend two World Youth Days: Toronto 2002 and Sydney 2008. I have a strong belief in my Catholic faith, strengthened by participation in the Immaculata Catholic Youth Society in Lewisham. I have also been an assistant Catechist at a local public school. I have a strong devotion to Our Lady and the Saints.
Precious Pastimes
In my spare time (spare time?! What’s that?!) I love to catch up with my friends, listen to music, mess around with my laptop, write, and most especially read. It is rare that I am not in the middle of one series or another, sometimes three or four. My favourite author is Juliet Marillier, her writing is beautiful. Music-wise I love Australian Indie and Ska music. I have recently started guitar lessons and am looking forward to the day when I can play something without my family fleeing, hands over their ears in pain!

Hey Ann-Marie, this page is great! Really interesting and I love the use of all your photos! Especially the one of World Youth Day… I had to look twice he he he!
